Gulf Shores Hotels not on the Beach

A lot of nice options for Gulf Shores Hotels not located right on the beach. Although not directly on the beach, most of these are conveniently located near restaurants, parks, and shopping.  As with the hotels on the beach, I have stayed in most of these for business travel and they are in no particular order or ranking.

As I mentioned on the HOME page, Hwy 59 is the gateway into Gulf Shores, which is where most of these hotels are located.  You will find dining and shopping options all along Hwy 59 from Gulf Shores going  to Foley, which is about 8 miles north.  If shopping is on your mind then the Tanger Outlet Center in Foley will need to be a stop for you.

Courtyard by Mariott Craft Farms

Hard to say a bad word about any Marriott property.  This is no exception, nice hotel conveniently located to the entertainment, golf and shopping.  All the usual amenities.  Great staff and clean rooms.  This is usually where I stay if it is just me,  may stay closer to town and beaches if the family is with me.  This is located just north of the Intracoastal Water Way.

Microtel Inn and Suites

Another hotel in a great location on Hwy 59.  Microtels are known for being straight forward, clean and affordable hotels.  The rooms are not the biggest but the beds are some of the most comfortable you will find. Located near golf and shopping.  This is just north of the Intracoastal Water Way.

Holiday Inn Express and Suites

Again, you usually know what to expect with this chain, clean rooms, nice staff and a free breakfast.  This hotel is located right in town south of the Intracoastal Waterway and you actually have to be looking for it.  It is tucked away behind a bank which could be a bonus in the way of getting off the busy highway during peak season.  The usual amenities here such as fitness center, pool, free wifi.

Country Hearth Inn

Touch and go here and just a decision you will have to make when it comes to budget.  Probably the less expensive of most options out there and if you are on vacation and do not plan on staying in the room much then this might be a good option.  Hotel is defenitely a little dated and I am OK with that, some may not be.  It is usually clean and staff is friendly.  Not much in the way of amenities, no pool.  It is north of the Intracoastal but convenient to shopping.  OH, and they allow pets.

StayBridge Suites

One of the tops in the area, it is one of the farthest out of town but worth the extra mile or two if you do not stay on the beach.  Rooms are nice, probably the best free breakfast in town and usually a little social gathering around happy hour during the season.  Nice pool and all the amenities you could ask for.  Very close to shopping and golf, and just a couple miles to the heart of GUlf Shores.

Days Inn Gulf Shores

Great location in town close to everything.  This is probably the best value around.  It is going to be priced a little lower so you have to know you are not going luxury.  But, for the money this can’t be beat.  Again, you are on vacation in a beutiful area, get out of the room.  All the amenities of the more expensive hotels, pool, free breakfast, fitness center, wifi and pets ARE allowed.  Good hotel for the money.
