Gulf Shores Attractions

Gulf Shores zooBelow is a brief list of some recommended activities or restaurant comments and Gulf Shores Attractions for your Gulf Coast Vacation.  As I have mentioned earlier, there is something for everyone while in Gulf Shores, yet the atmosphere remains laid back without the hustle and bustle of other vacation destinations.  There are far too many activities for me to list and discuss here, these are just a few of the highlights. These are activities and attractions located in Gulf Shores, check HERE for some other attractions located just down the road in Orange Beach AL.

Nature Trails – Make sure you pick up some information on where these are located and spend some time outdoors. Trails

Waterville – All day fun at the Water Park with the family

The Racetrack – Now you know no vacation is complete without a little go kart challenge. The Track

Ft. Morgan – Go back in time and learn a little history at an authentic Fort that once protected Mobile Bay.  If you have time, you can load a ferry and cross the Bay to Dauphin Island and Mobile, AL.

Gulf State Park- Nice little getaway with nature trails, picnic area, golf and a public beach available.  They have added a new Adventure Center I hear is nice- try the Zip Lines.

Gulf State Park Pier- Second longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico and Alabama’s only public pier on the Gulf. At 1,540 feet long, 20 feet wide, and boasting 2,448 feet of fishing space

Gulf Shores Zoo- This has become a big attraction in the Gulf Shores area.  You may have seen this zoo on a documentary later turned into a series on the Animal Planet documenting the Zoo’s struggles in caring for the animals before and after hurricane Ivan and the day to day struggle of the upkeep on a limited budget.  A great story and a great people behind this zoo, check it out while you here.

LuLu’s – not much comment needed here.  LuLu is Jimmy Buffet’s sister and a true hot spot in Gulf Shores.  Located right on the Inter Coastal Water Way and fun for the entire family.  Maybe you will get lucky and catch one of brother Jimmy’s surprise appearances

Shrimp Basket – One of Gulf Shores oldest restaurants and known for their fried shrimp.  They have now branched out into over 15 locations and it all started here in Gulf Shores.  Nice quick and fairly inexpensive meal for the family.

The Oyster House – Another Gulf Shores tradition and one of the oldest restaurants in Gulf Shores.  Only problem here is that this one is on everybody’s list, so make sure you head out early or be willing to wait a bit, it is worth it.  It is also located near some gift shops and boutiques for you to kill a little time while you wait.

The Pink Pony Pub- Hard to call this a restaurant but I am sure there is food there.  Popular bar right on the beach and a cool t-shirt to have.

Kiva Dunes – One of the nicest you will ever Play. Nuff Said.

The Peninsula – Another great course, if you can play twice, this is your next course.   27 Hole Championship Course.

Craft Farms – two 18 Hole Arnold Palmer designed courses.

Gulf Shores Golf Club – 18 Hole Resort course and public welcome.

Gulf State Park Golf Course – Maybe a touch better than what you normally get at state park courses.  Better for the budget and a fun course.

Feel free to check out other activities in the area – Orange Beach
